Are you on the hunt for an Atascocita Mazda dealer so you can enjoy all the exciting features this upscale yet affordable brand has to offer? Have you been thinking about getting a new car but are trying to wait and see what new technology and breathtaking changes have been made for the 2022 model year? While most of Mazda’s popular lineup remains unchanged for 2022, there is one radical new addition that has been confirmed, and there are strong rumors of something even bigger coming soon. It is time to explore everything that Japan’s most underrated automaker has to offer for the coming year.

All-New and All-Electric

Driving a Mazda is enjoyable. It is not just a vehicle you hop in and use to travel from point A to point B as quickly as possible. A Mazda is a vehicle you enjoy riding in, enjoy driving, and enjoy owning. Because of the brand’s emphasis on driving feel and excitement, Mazda has focused its efforts on wringing maximum efficiency out of traditional gasoline engines. However, that is about to change with the introduction of the new 2022 MX-30.

Available as both a pure electric vehicle (EV) and as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), the MX-30 starts a new chapter in Mazda’s pursuit of performance and efficiency. Unlike other EV models, which emphasize long range and come with bulky and heavy batteries, Mazda has chosen to intentionally keep the battery small and light to produce the crisp and exciting driving experience that the brand is known for. While not designed for long road trips, the MX-30 EV will have plenty of range for all your daily driving needs.

However, if you are looking for something with longer range, then the MX-30 PHEV will be right up your alley. This model uses the same exact battery pack and electric motors as the MX-30 EV but has a small addition that will allow you to drive farther and enjoy more time in your vehicle with no concerns about range or charging. The secret? A gasoline-powered rotary generator.

During your commute or short trips around town, the MX-30 PHEV functions just like a normal all-electric vehicle and produces zero emissions. However, if you need to go further than the battery will allow, the compact and efficient range extender kicks in to give you all the range and freedom of a gasoline-powered car. The MX-30 PHEV gives you the best of both worlds. The electric vehicle reduces emissions, saves money spent on fuel, and is quiet while in operation.

When Will We See This Fabulous Vehicle?

Be patient for just a little longer. Mazda is expected to debut the latest model in its lineup in the fall of this year. Unfortunately for Atascocita shoppers, the first examples of the new 2022 Mazda MX-30 are scheduled to go on sale in California. Drivers here in Texas will likely have to wait until early 2022 to see the MX-30 start showing up here at Parkway Family Mazda. Of course, you can check out all of Mazda’s other great vehicles while you wait for the MX-30 to arrive.

The Mazda CX-30 compact SUV provides a great alternative to the MX-30 if you just can’t wait for Mazda’s electric model to show up on our lot. While the CX-30 lacks the electric powertrain and clamshell rear doors of the MX-30, Mazda’s gasoline-powered SKYACTIV engine is incredibly efficient and is rated for up to 33 MPG on the highway in the CX-30. The two models are also very similar in size, with the CX-30 providing a touch more interior room for your passengers and cargo.

Moving Further Upmarket

With its recent premium designs that are filled with luxury features, Mazda has made no attempt to conceal its ambition to move upmarket and become a true luxury brand. The next step in the plan is almost at hand with two new designs that are engineered to compete on even ground with models from BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus. While neither of these luxury Mazdas has yet been officially announced, rumors are swirling, and we expect to see them appear in press releases sooner than later.

The Mazda CX-50

While the name isn’t yet officially confirmed, leaks hint that Mazda’s luxury SUV will be known as the CX-50 and will be similar in size to the popular CX-5. However, there is one major difference – an all-new inline-6 engine and rear-wheel drive. This new engine is going to put real “zoom, zoom” power beneath the hood and offer performance like a German luxury model. The CX-5 has always had exceptional handling, and with the rear-wheel-drive capabilities, drivers will love the increased stability and control of the vehicle.

The CX-50 may arrive in 2022, or it might arrive in 2023. If you can’t wait that long for your next SUV, don’t worry – the CX-5 already offers an incredible level of features and performance. The Signature trim is powered by a turbocharged engine supplying 250 horsepower, and the cabin is filled with premium touches. From the Caturra brown Nappa leather seats with heating and ventilation to the 10.25-inch full-color display and Bose sound system, the CX-5 is already a premium model with the style you need to look good wherever you go.

A Mazda6 Replacement?

Fans of Mazda’s midsize sedan were saddened to learn that the Mazda6 is going to be discontinued for 2022, leaving the compact Mazda3 as the brand’s only sedan. However, rumors suggest that the Mazda6 will soon be replaced by a new luxury performance sedan sporting the same inline-6 engine and rear-wheel drive as Mazda’s upcoming luxury SUV. Such a combination would be a direct competitor to the BMW 3 Series and would help put Mazda on the map as a serious luxury brand. While there is no confirmation about the details of such a vehicle, and we know that it is not going to show up until after 2022, we eagerly await its arrival at our Atascocita dealership.

What is Mazda Up To?

It appears that Mazda is playing its cards very close to its chest when it comes to the brand’s future models. However, the broad strokes are out there. Mazda has aspirations of creating luxuriously comfortable vehicles that are beautifully sleek and eye-catching, safe, and durable. The manufacturer has begun to take its long-term emphasis on quality instead of quantity to all-new levels.

The result of these ambitious plans has been for the Mazda models from each year to start transforming from just an affordable ride to a luxury experience that is both affordable and efficient. The new 2022 models are demonstrating that the manufacturer has gotten things right. They have found the sweet spot between the comfort of the finest vehicles and the affordability of the most basic cars. Mazda is showing that they care about their customers, they care about comfort, they care about aesthetics, and most of all, they care about keeping driving fun.
