In particular, we’re going to look at the available tech features on the 2020 Mazda CX-5 so you can see if it’s right for you.

Engine and Transmission

Don’t worry, we’ll get to all of the impressive technology you can find inside the CX-5 in a moment, but we wanted to briefly go over some of the mechanical technology that makes this Mazda vehicle so fun to drive. Infotainment screens and stunning sound systems are great, and certainly can make a big difference on a long road trip or when looking at directions, but the engine really impacts what it’s like to drive a vehicle.

The standard engine in the 2020 Mazda CX-5 is a SKYACTIV-G 2.5L DOHC 4-cylinder beauty that offers 187 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. This comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission that includes a manual shift and a sport mode to really make it fun to drive. You get front-wheel drive standard on the CX-5, but i-ACTIV all-wheel drive is available if you prefer.

There is also an available SKYACTIV-G 2.5T Dynamic Pressure Turbo DOHC 4-cylinder engine that you can choose, which delivers up to 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. As you can see, this is a lot more powerful and really makes the CX-5 incredibly fun to drive. Plus, it comes with all-wheel drive, and Off-Road Traction Assist standard, making it perfect if you deal with a lot of dirt roads, like to do some off-roading, or need to stay in control in rough weather.

Interior Luxury Technology

Technology is too-often only thought of as flashy gadgets and similar features, but there is also a lot of tech that you’ll find on vehicles at your Mazda dealer designed to keep you comfortable and surround you with luxury. For example, the CX-5 Sport, which is the starting trim, features standard air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear selector, and cloth-trimmed seats. The standard seating includes a 6-way manual adjustable driver’s seat and a 4-way manual front-passenger seat.

Looking at the highest trim for the 2020 Mazda CX-5, which is the Signature, you quickly see that there is a tremendous amount of luxury and sophistication available. The Signature trim features a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror and LED illuminated visor vanity mirrors. It has LED lighting throughout the interior, including map lights, a dome light, and a cargo light, plus dual-zone automatic climate control with a pollen filter. You also get a power sliding-glass moonroof with a one-touch-open feature in the Signature and some of the other higher-end trims.

Seating technology is quite a bit more luxurious at higher trims: the Signature CX-5 includes an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support and two memory settings, along with a 6-way power front-passenger seat. It has heated front and rear seats, with three levels of heating, along with ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel to ensure absolute comfort. Even if you don’t choose the highest trim, a lot of this great luxury technology is available at lower trims too.

Interior Infotainment Technology

Now, let’s take a look at infotainment and audio technology that you can find in the CX-5 at your local Mazda dealer. Once again, starting with the Sport trim, you get standard HD radio, integration with Pandora and other audio programs, and SMS text message audio delivery and reply all standard. The Sport features a 7-inch full-color infotainment display, a 4-speaker audio system, a pair of USB ports, and steering-wheel-mounted audio, phone, and cruise controls. You also get a standard speedometer and other instrumentation, with a 4-inch multi-information display and a trip computer.

Going up to the Signature trim, however, the technology in the Mazda CX-5 becomes much more impressive, as you might expect. The Signature comes with an additional pair of USB ports in the backseat, along with an auxiliary input jack, a 3-year subscription to SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link, and support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has an 8-inch infotainment display and a Bose 10-speaker audio system with Centerpoint 2 and AudioPilot 2 for a truly enveloping and captivating experience.

In the Signature, you get standard instrumentation, along with a 7-inch LCD meter display, to provide you with more information. You’ll also find an active driving display and traffic sign recognition system to help keep you safe and in control on the road. All in all, it’s a fantastic collection of technology features for entertainment and information – with a lot of them available at lower trims too.

Amazing Safety Technology

We’ll admit it: gorgeous speakers and driver displays are flashy and grand, and they certainly make the CX-5 fun to drive. But there’s no type of technology on any vehicle quite as important as the safety tech that it includes. This can be easy to overlook, but you always want to choose the safest vehicle you can find to help protect you and your loved ones on the road.

This 2020 CX-5 that you’ll find at your Mazda dealer is one of the safest crossovers on the road, in large part because it includes the i-Activsense package of safety features and technology standard on every model. Even the Sport trim includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, Mazda radar cruise control with Stop & Go, and a tire pressure monitoring system. You also get advanced smart city brake support with pedestrian detection, which helps when driving through parking lots and on city streets, along with smart brake support with a collision warning.

Other standard safety features include a lane departure warning system with lane-keep assist, as well as dynamic stability control with a traction control system. You get numerous airbags throughout the inside of the CX-5, including dual front airbags and side-impact curtains with rollover protection. If you want even more safety features, then the front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree view monitor system are available, though not standard.

Remarkable Technology at Your Mazda Dealer

As you can see, the technology available on the 2020 Mazda CX-5 is quite impressive; whether you’re looking for a responsive engine, stunning sound system, or active safety features, the CX-5 has you covered.
