Spring Tire Rotation

Purchasing new tires can be expensive, so it’s a good idea to take care of them. The best way to care for your tires is to rotate them regularly. Manufacturers recommend getting a tire rotation every 3,000 to 8,000 miles, depending on the company and which type of tires you have. For drivers in Spring, tire rotation is fast and easy at the Parkway Family Mazda Service Department in Kingwood.

We’re often asked by customers why it’s important to take their vehicles to our service department for regular tire rotation in Spring. Rotating the tires keeps them from wearing unevenly. Cars with front-wheel drive place a heavier burden on the tires because the engine is located in the front of the vehicle. If the tires aren’t rotated, the front tires will wear faster than the rear tires. Tires on rear-wheel-drive cars need to be rotated as well.

When you take your vehicle to the Parkway Family Mazda Service Center for a tire rotation, our service technicians will change the tires’ location. Different types of vehicles have their own rotation patterns. Our service team members will use the correct rotation pattern for your car, truck, SUV or van. They’ll also check the tires for wear and damage and make sure the tires are properly inflated.

Most vehicles will use one of three rotation patterns: forward cross, x-pattern and rearward cross. Refer to your owner's manual for the recommended rotation pattern for your vehicle.

  • Forward Cross: This rotation pattern is used for vehicles with front-wheel drive. The front tires are relocated to the rear. The rear tires are moved forward and placed on the opposite sides.
  • X-Pattern: This is another rotation pattern for vehicles with four-wheel drive. The front tires are transferred to the rear, the rear tires are moved to the front, and the two sets of tires switch to the opposite sides.
  • Rearward cross: This pattern is designed for all-wheel or four-wheel-drive vehicles. The rear tires move forward, and the front tires move back and switch sides.

Tire Rotation Service in Spring

Some high-performance vehicles have front and rear tires that are different sizes. These tires can’t be rotated like conventional tires. These tires are shifted from left to right and right to left, but the front and rear tires aren’t switched with each other. Some vehicles ride on directional tires, which are transferred from the front to the back and the back to the front. They stay on the same sides of the car.

You can rotate your tires yourself, but we suggest allowing the experienced service technicians at Parkway Family Mazda to do the job. They’re trained to rotate your car’s tires quickly and accurately. There’s no reason to mess around with it yourself.
